hi, i am new to the hobby , i have a 45gal tank and got my hands on 4 nice dry dead brain coral about 15lbs each. can i use this for live rock my local lfs said yes no problem its just has good as all the bsae rock they sell and its very porous however another lfs told me no its not the same and thats just for decor and that he doesn't recomend it.

i am confused on the mixed opinion. can i use it as live rock, it look really nice in the tank however i want it to benefit my tank as BB

SHould be fine once it 'conditions.' See the sticky on preparing rock. This looks to have some porosity, which is good. The only caveat is whether it was prepared with bleach: but likely it's long since gone.

yes it was bleached, rinsed and put out in the sun to dry.
its been in my tank since the beginning stage of the cycle 4 weeks ago

was going to pull it out the tank and replace it with dry rock just to play it safe
or should i wait. any signs i should look for to make sure it will work as BB for main source of filtration?

IMHO, that is very good rock to use in your tank. Any bleach that might have been used as long since evaporated, and just looking at it you can see just how porous it is.
