skeleton sticking through will it live

I just received a Lobophyllia and the skeleton points were sticking through the flesh in several spots. Has anyone had this happen to them and did it survive? I know fish will heal themselves pretty quickly. Will corals do the same? It was due to poor bagging.:headwalls:

sometimes when you gat stressed larg polyp corals when they completly deflate the septa poke threw .thats whats happening right?its not receeding from the base?if its not receeding from the base its fine just needs good water and food and you wont ever notice it again.if you can see the septa still after its all blown up its been starving just feed a little minced seafood or mysis every day till it gets some body back.doesnt take long in a well fed healthy reaf setting.if its receeding from the base do the same but try to keep algea away and it may never grow back over just grow away from it looks ugly but nothing wrong with it.gl. pics also help

In my experience like sqwat said, with good water ability it will heal. It may be slow but it should be fine. If algae grows on any that are poking through I would break that part off if possible. As long as you don't break it down below the flesh it wont hurt it at all.

it will heal once you get some foods in it and it can get some bodyweight back that is all it needs.try feeding it every day minced foods with zoa or selcon .i had a blasto that did this when i got it but steady feeding filled him up in a week the septas were back under the polyp
