Skiddish Fish

Okay, after having a tank for 6 or so years and having some fish that always hide, it's frustrating to spend $ on nice fish and they don't come out to play.

I have a OC Clown fish, 6 line wrasse, yellow tang, Coral Beauty Angel, Manderan, and another type of Tang--forget the name.

None of them fight and they all get along. The yellow tang is always swimming in the open. The 6 line is also very active.

The Angel that's been in there about 3 years comes out for 30 seconds and then behind the rocks for 5 minutes.

All fish have been in there for at least a year, some 3-4yrs. Lots of live rock that they like to be behind where we can't see them.

Anything I could do to get them in the open, put a powerhead aiming behind the rocks and have it turn off at bed time? When it's eating time, they all come out to chow.

I'm assuming it is what it is......What other fish would people suggest that are very active and in the open a large percentage of the time. I think I'm almost at my max though now.

Another topic: I have a serpent star that has been in the tank for about 5 yrs now. He's now huge! He's the size of a half dollar, 3/8" thick, and about 6 inch long legs. I'm thinking he's too big for my 65 gal tank now, however, I haven't lost any fish. He may be eating my snails though. Any suggestions?

We had a very shy wrasse, like your angel, you would only see if for a few moments a day if you were lucky. Then, a few months back we were trying to remove some tangs by reducing the amount of food they were getting to tempt them into a fish trap/nets. To do this, we were just feeding the fish using a pippette, a little at a time so that the tangs couldn't get any. During this time the wrasse came out more and more to get some food until now he is out and about as much as any other fish.
