I have been using a bak pak skimmer and just recently installed a sump. I added a 5 inch extension on the maxijet 1200 powerhead so it can hang on the sump nicely. I have been noticing though it is producing no skimmate. Is this because of the headloss from the 5 inch extension or will a more powerful powerhead like a rio 1100 be more sufficient. my sump is designed so the only place the skimmer can hang on is the return section. could this be affecting it as well? If the powerhead is an issue, which would you suggest? thank you.
