Skimmer - 400 gallon system

Hi Everyone,

I am working on putting together a large system, it will have a total water volume of just under 400 gallons.

Are the Reef Octopus skimmers up to the job for a well stocked tank?

I was thinking about the SRO-6000EXT or SRO-5000EXT

Thanks

I use a SRO 5000 INT and love it. My only complaint is microbubbles. I attach a filter sock on the outlet for that. But performance, noise, quality it gets 5 stars. I love how you can completely disassemble these for cleaning.

where do you keep the water level at?

Thanks, I wonder if the EXT version has the same micro bubble issue. Great idea with the sock, I can always plumb the return line into a filter sock in the sump.

How does the cup attach to the main body? It is threaded or a push-fit with an o-ring

I run a 5000ext with a baffle between the skimmer outlet and the return section and have never had any micro bubble issues or need for socks etc. The cup is push fit with an o-ring.
