Skimmer advice

So recently I have had this bad smell coming from my sump. I recently did my first vinegar clean on my skimmer after 6 months. I reinstalled it and it is pulling the most pudgent crap I have ever seen a skimmer pull (in person). Well it's somewhat venting the smell into the stand which the fan then vents into my relatively small house. Now any advice? Fixes? Just is what it is? Im glad it's working so well but short of using room air freshener it can be smelled in half the house.

Some skimmer companies would put carbon on top of their lids kinda like a ice cream sandwich.

You can try to put teaspoon of kalkwasser powder in skimmer cup

So dry carbon like BRS carbon? In a bag or something?

don't know if this needs to be said but air freshener is highly toxic to the tank if it lands on the water, known peoples tanks to crash from it. is there room to run your skimmate to a milk jug or something that way it wont be in the cup at least, would probably help.

I don't spray around the tank and I have a full canopy but it could still happen. I could drop a 2 liter in the end of the stand as well.

Baking soda. Absorbs horrible smells in the fridge. a lot cheaper than using up carbon.
