Skimmer and sump

Hi guys,

I am trying to organize my bigger reef aquarium. It will be 100 gallon. Now my question. What is the best skimmer and on what points you select the right one?
More expensive the better?

Also i am decorating my sump. I have alot of place in the basement where the sump will be. They say "the bigger the better". How many areas is best and what to fill it with.
