Skimmer Busted

Hey all,

My skimmer recently just broke so I have a new one coming in the mail. Question is should my corals be ok for about a week without a skimmer? LPS/SPS dominated tank.

I am currently running a canister filter with carbon to help maintain the phosphates and plan on doing a water change in the next couple of days to keep the water clean until the skimmer arrives.

Thanks!

yes, everything will be fine. If I were you I would feed very lightly until you get the new one skimming. Filter socks changed daily could help too.

Depending on your nutrient levels, your SPS may even color up a little more. Mine broke for 10 days and I realized I was stripping my water and now I run my skimmer 12/hr a day instead of 24.

I usually shut my skimmer off for one or two days a week. Some people run tanks completly without skimmers. You should be fine. +1 on keeping an eye on what you put into the tank nutriant wise.

All levels seem fine at the moment, will definitely reduce the feeding a bit until the skimmer arrives. Thank you guys for the responses!
