Skimmer Choice: SRO 2000, SRO1000, Bubble Magus Nac 9, Curve 9, Curve 7

I am starting my 90gallon mixed reef build. I want to go overkill on my skimmer (as you can see in my choices). I imagine myself staying within 90-180 gallon tanks in the future.

Wondering if anyone has experience with any of these skimmers and can share their experiences. I'm leaning toward the Bubble Magus Curve9 or the SRO2000.

Thanks

Curve 9 is a beast but its big and you will need room for it in the sump.. It will fit perfect in a 40gal sump

Although BM makes some good skimmers from my experience with the NAC7, you just cannot go wrong with the SRO skimmers! I have an overkill SRO3000 on my 185 and an NWD 110 on my 55g and they are great skimmers! I have an SRO2000 that I will be putting on my 135g swim that is in the near future.

no experience with the NAC, but the Bubble Blaster pump on my SRO3000 is a quiet and efficient workhorse. All my research before getting it, people said don't oversize an SRO, they're ratings are honest and work best in the tank size they're rated for. I have mine in a 185 and I think it will b perfect once loaded up.

I have the SRO XP2000 and NWB150 from Reef Octopus. While at first I liked them (especially the NWB150), over time they both started randomly overflowing. The 2000 especially. Yes, yes I made sure water level was right. Yes the venturi area was clear of salt. Yes the pump was clean & clog free. No additives prior to overflows. Support just named all the above then had no idea. My NWB150 really has only done it twice (but is relatively new). So not fair to put it with the XP2000 which does it 1 to 3 times a week for the past year. I now have a BK mini and have no overflow problems. It's a few months old now.

Maybe the regular SRO2000 is better than the SRO XP2000. Maybe it's just mine. I don't know. But after googling I've seen way to many Random Overflow posts about Reef Octopus skimmers.

So, even though I have never used the Magus. I'd try it over any Octopus.

my sro3000 i just bought from rc rocks. on other hand my nac7 i had nonstop problems with it ,junk if you ask me just my 2 cents

It seems like its hit or miss with either option. What would you recommend for a return pump on a standard 90 gallon tank? I'm thinking that I'll get the new Diablo DC Water Pump 3500 925 GPH 25 Watts. Is 925 too much/too little or on the money? I really like this pump because it has the ability to be variable speeds and has a fish feeding mode.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I picked up a used SRO2000 from Jporter and I think it will do the job just fine. I also picked up a new Diablo 3500 DC controllable return pump from Reef Monsters for a great price and I love it. I probably should have bought the 5500 because of the ability to turn the pump down but I really think these will take over in the near future.
