Skimmer choice!!!!

They are both well respected skimmers. I have the ASM G-3 and I am happy with it. One bit of advise though. If you you do go with the ASM, don't buy into all of the modification hype. I haven't touched mine. It is plug and play all of the way.

I have used both, and I prefer Euro-Reef, I recently got a Euro-Reef Recirculating model and it is a great skimmer.

Glad to hear that, I have been looking to ASM myself, and all everyone talks about is the mods to them.

I have a euro reef and like it it is very well built. I believe if It wasnt as solid as it is I would have broke the skimmer cup by now some thing think about.:)

I know the ASM perform equal so take your pick.

The ASM is a fine product. I know two reefers who have G3's and have done some mods on them. They perform very well. I have seen the evidence. Which Euro are you looking at? I have the RS250 and have been very happy with it. No mods except the gate valve. Heres a pic of it i action:

I was looking at the RS135.

My main concern is with the sump area. If i go with the ASM G4 i would have to custom make a sump for the thing to fit which i got quoted a price that i thought was waaaay to high.

If i go the RS135 route i can buy a sump where the skimmer chamber is big enough too fit the RS135.

What would be the max size tank that the RS135 would be able to skim?

Well, I'll stay with one of the two you mentioned. Of the two choices go with what you can afford and fit in your sump. Like I wrote, I have the euro reef and have been very happy with it right out of the box, I also have seen two G3's with amazing performance as well. I think both are good choices.

I have a ASM G4+ and I'm in the process of aquiring a Euro-reef RS8-3.
All I know is I'm not happy with the ASM performance and purchasing the Euro based soley on its reputation.
I should add that I have done the mesh mod and gatevalve to the ASM, performance has been much better than stock and possibly acceptable but I feel I need a larger skimmer to handle the bioload when my tank is fully stocked.
