Skimmer cover loose

I recently purchased the 9002 nano skimmer and its seems to be functioning fairly well. One issue I am having is that the cover keeps popping off. Is there a way to secure the cover and does this effect operation? Also have the skimmer located in compartment #1 in my 22G cadlights, is this the optimal location for it?

I am not familiar with this tank but typically you want the skimmer to be first in the filtration.

To fix the top cover issue just remove the bottom cover and pump and gently pull down the airline while pushing the cover down. It is excess airline in the top chamber that is pushing the cover off. The main problem is the excess can kink in this top chamber if the cover is forced closed.
