Skimmer Design Question

I keep hearing the cone skimmers are the big thing now. supposed to skim much better. john at faois said it shuts down his big downdraft skimmer when his little cone skimmer is running

Ted, I think needlewheel cone skimmers and the reeflo orca needlewheel skimmers top the charts. I just bought an Orca needlewheel pump. I'm going to run it on the skimmer body that is currently being run as a dual beckett.

How about a Dart needle wheel Cone Skimmer ? Where am I wrong here , what say you ? Ted
To use an Orca on a cone, the cone base would have to be at least 24 inches and 36 inches tall.

Mike , I don't know what it would take to build a skimmer like that , I was just thinking out loud . Ted

I talked to Chris at Reeflo about the Orca before I bought it. Water output of the skimmer, air output of the skimmer all figure in the size. The Orca has too much water for the air it processes to be good for a cone skimmer. Too much water causes turbulance.
