Skimmer for 1000gal tank

Give us details...what you plan on keeping, if your running internal or external and a budget. On the high end I would recommend H&S, Bubble King or Deltec. I'm guessing you have a fair amount of cash to work with on a system that large, correct?

its actually for my Frag grow out tanks now (about 500 gal) but in about a year or two im going to plump it in with my 500gal tank im going to be setting up. Cheaper woulod be better but i want something good thats going to last.i was looking at the euro reef 1000 but its a little $$

I use GEO on my 1200g system. I know Phishybusiness.com sells them. They have a Skimmer for 1000g + systems in stock and ready to go. I looked into all the big names when I was planning for mine.

Someone is selling a really nice skimmer for up to I believe 1600 gallons that has been altered nicely. May want to check it out.

Definately get a VOLCANO by Spazz- simply the best out there and I've had quite a few. Easily the most effecient design with a huge amount of skimmate. My Volcano produced 8 times the skimmate with half the wattage draw of my other(different brand) skimmer. I've had Euro-reef, turbo-flotors, etc. and VOLCANO is the best.

I'm running an RC1000 and I have no complaints at all. Since they have gone with 5 - Eheim 1262's. The skimmer is on par or above anything I have ever seen. I have only had to tweak it 5 times since I bought it. That is way less than I ever expected having to touch it, other than normal cleaning.

I've heard many great things about his skimmers. Any chance we could get a pic of it in action? PLEASE!:)

Here you go. I think it's still for sale because the new owner went a different direction.

Here's the thread he is selling on. He just came through St. Louis again and picked up some true superman from me and bought a sump system Kentrob built too.

Or you could build your own:

This skimmer operates on just 120W for my 1,100g system.

It will pull out 5 -8g of dry skimmate per week.

Or 4 - 5g of wet skimmate per day.

It's nowhere near as nice as a SPAZZ skimmer, but it works very well, is inexpensive, and electrically efficient. If you are not up to DIY, then for a system the size of yours, I would also recommend one built by Scott.

You can see more pics of its build process on my skimmer page.

Good luck!

I have been running an ASM G6 for 2 years+ on my 1000 gallon in series with the 240 and have had good results. pulls a lot of skimmate every day. I do not have a huge biolad, maybe 20 fish total and nothing real large. but for the money I have been pleased.
