Skimmer for 1000gal tank

you can get a "volcano" from spazz in that price range. i was in your same position for my large tank and researched for months, deltec, bubble king, h&s, mrc, hsa, precision marine all of them, for the bang for the buck spazz's skimmers win hands down. now if you had 3-4k you could go with a bk or deltec, they are great skimmers but kind of pricey. needless to say, a volcano the same price as a rc1000 would blow it away.

leave him alone, he's busy building my skimmer :D

no really, i'm sure he will definetely get back with you soon

Yea, but the BK 500 only consumes 1 pump 76watts vs 200watt on the others mentioned and 365/24 = $$$$

My only problem is that the bk 500 cost 4k vs the spazz volcano at 2k how long will it take to make up $2000.00 at 100 watts a day?

So a difference of 112 watts X24X365/1000=981 kwatts@year. If you pay 10cents it would be 98.11@year. So it would take 20.4 years to break even. If you pay 20 cents@kwatt it would take 10.2 years to break even. In St. louis we pay .0427/kw so it would take me 47.75 years. Good possiblity I'd never see break even point.

don't forget to mention, your "volcano" pulls more air than a bk 500

A- who knows where I'm going to be in 10-20 years
B-who knows what my tank will look like in 10-20 years
C- Who knows what technology will be like in 10-20 years
D- If you add in time value of money what will 2000 be worth if invested it today in 20 years?
E- Most important why did we get into this hobby anyway ?
