Skimmer for 150

Jeremy,

I am setting up a new 150 gallon display with 50 gallon sump and an additional 20 gallon refugium. It will take time to ramp up, but it will eventually have a fairly high bio load of fish and corals (mostly sps). Between the Bubble Kings or Royal Alpha Cones, could you please give me a couple of recommendations for an in sump skimmer?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Are you limited on space at all? Let me know what kind of footprint you are working with here in the sump and I'll make some recommendations for you.

Thanks,
Jeremy

The skimmer would be in the sump which is a 50 gallon tank that is 24 inches wide. I can make the skimmer chamber whatever length is needed.

Thanks.

In that case, bang for the buck the Alpha 200 will be your best bet going. It's going to perform better than a Mini 200, a little better thant he Deluxe in my opinion, and just under what the SM 200 would do. However, the difference in what the SM 200 and Alpha 200 would do is very minor, and you wouldn't see the performance gain that would warrant the cost difference in my opinion. If money is no object though, I would do the SM 200, but the Alpha 200 would handle it just fine, and then some.
