Just wondering what the best skimmer would be for a full SPS Reef that is roughly 50 Gallons, i plan to overskim and use Zeovit products, but not the entire system. Ive been looking at Royal Exclusiv, price range about 800ish. Looking forward to some opinions :)

Look at the New Vertex made by Royal Exclusive under 400.00 on sale now from a few places for like 349 and coupon codes can get it to your door for like 330ish.

Just got some specs on this earlier this week, and it's a BEAST!

Power Consumption: 19w
Air Draw: 850lph
Footprint: 11" x 11" (could go slightly smaller if needed)
Height: 21.75"

I haven't seen many Skimmers that size pulling 850lph heck I haven't even seen that many 400++ skimmers pulling 850lph at 19w.

Under a 50g tank, I'm assuming you have limited space.

When I had my 50g Oceanic, I ran the Bubble Magus NAC6 and loved it. I still have the skimmer now, and it runs in my 75g system. Still lovin it.

The tank is going to have a larger sump underneath, it's an interesting design, being a drop off Reef. I have been looking at
Royal Exclusiv Bubble King Double Cone 180
Vertex Omega 150
These are quite different in price range, and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra 500 to go Royal Exclusiv?
Otherwise the Tunze 9142? About midrange between the two and a relatively small footprint.

Have been reading up on the Omega, I might wait until someone makes a review on them. But so far for only $500 Australian I'm liking them, increasingly

I have had a Few Royal Exclusive Skimmers and by no means are they Junk but in my honest opinion not worth the cash. If you noticed how I said I had a few I was looking for better performance so for the money I have to say they are not the end all be all skimmer look no further skimmer IMO. BK do have Quiet pumps low watts and great build quality no one can take that away from them. So IMO I feel the Vertex built by Royal is going to be not only the correct watts and lph for what Royal builds in that Gal range but price seems to be in line with what they should be priced at in that size skimmer. I did not like the transition of the BK Mini Necks at all!!! The Vertex neck may just be what is needed for the smaller line of BK/Royal to be a great smaller Skimmer.

Honestly I feel the Omega will give the BK180 a run for it money my 180 was my least favorite BK out of all of them I have owned.

BK Specs.
Mini Bubble King 180
Base plate : 8.25" x 8.25"
For tanks from 100 - 200 gallons
800 L/H air - 396 GPH Water
Total height : 21.65" 28 Watt/h

BK 180 Price 1,200.00
Vertex Omega 330.00ish with a Coupon

Specs for the Omega is up top^ Post #3

Built in the same place lets hope Vertex is not a let down LOL.

I have an Omega Coming and I'll post up a review. It is going on a New tank so it may take me a bit.

That skimmer is not the same as the alpha series or bubble kings. Nices build quality but NO red dragon pump, and the pump it what make those skimmers what they are.

Understood but they are not good enough for the price difference justification IMO but that's just me lph, watts and price are really standing out on the vertex.

Okay have decided on either:
Bubble King Mini 160
Or
Bubble King Double Cone 180

Can anyone give me some first hand advice about these two? Is there a huge difference in them? Both seem similarly priced, and work up to 500L, any reason I should chose one? The mini obviously seems more attractive due to it's small footprint

I don't think the peformance increase justifies the price of these skimmers, however I can't give first hand advice. I've been using a SWC 160 cone on my smaller tanks (65g SPS carbon-dosing) and it's completely silent and very effective.

I've had both (the following size: mini180 and double cone 200)and are similar in performance.
The advantage of the mini is the small footprint, and the double cone allow to adjust best the type of foam (you can reduce the inflow of water to the pump) ... with both going to overskimmed for that volume, so you decide according to the space you have in the sump.

My reef octo extreme 200 yawns at my overstocked (12 fish including 2 tangs) 40 breeder. The bubble king would be sweet but you can get all the performance you need at a much lower price imo.
