Skimmer for 50 Gallon SPS Reef

My reef octo extreme 200 yawns at my overstocked (12 fish including 2 tangs) 40 breeder. The bubble king would be sweet but you can get all the performance you need at a much lower price imo.

+1... Although I don't own two tangs in my 40 Breeder. :P

But yes. For real. Unless you just have cash to blow. Your going to be dissapointed I think. It wont make your tank the most amazing thing ever by itself. Also your'll still have to do waterchanges, etc. Don't expect to be able to get out of the essentials.

Thanks guys, really some great input :)
I don't think that by spending ridiculous amounts of money on a skimmer or any other equipment that I won't have to do any of th basics though :)
I'm just trying to make the purchase that I'll be most happy with, and because the tank is my "mother of all tanks' the amount of money, whilst significant, isn't a deciding factor. In the end, money is only a tool, that helps feed my reeding addiction!
I'm leaning towards the double Cone 180 Royal Exclusiv Bubble King, mainly because I have the space, and it seems the more controllable of the two, not set though :)

I cannot recommend SWC skimmers due to issues with the cheap pumps they use. I had a swc 160 and it junked out on me after a few months use. I have been using an SRO 1000 and I like it. I also like Vertex skimmers. I've never used a bubble king, but they get great reviews.

Well I'm not to pressed for space, so would you thunk the Double Cone 180 would give me a better control?
Thanks Yano :)

Yes, both skimmers may be too aggressive in removing nutrients your volume, therefore I would choose the Double Cone lets you adjust better performance for a less aggressive foaming ... also say that as you have said to your volume there are other cheaper options that may be more tailored to your size: Vertex 150 or Reef octopus for example.

Thanks guys :) And thank you Yano; I think itll be the double cone then :) Really looking forward to getting some good high end equipment for this tank, and as my lovely girlfriend has just given me the go ahead, I'll start saving and ordering :)
