Skimmer for JBJ 28g cube

From the pictures, it kinda looks like a CPR BakPak skimmer knockoff. The only thing I would caution for your purposes is that it has an internal pump (pump goes in the tank). Not sure of the internal pump will fit in the rear chamber of the NC28. The HOB-1 and the classic 1000 HOB both have external pumps, so all you have to deal with is fitting the intake and outflow pipes in the back chambers.

Yeah I was wondering that about the pump. The pump looks pretty small and then the foam thing can probably be cut down. The center chamber is pretty big on the JBJ NC28 so I think it would fit in there. I'd completely loose the media rack though. If the pump didn't fit from that I could always replace it but adding another $30 to it would mean it's up there again close to the $100 spot.

I think I'll play it safe and probably get a Aquamaxx HOB-1 or similar off the classifieds. Seems like the best skimmer really. It fits in one of the smaller un used chambers leaving everything else working as it came. Gotta wait a bit though so for now I'll just keep up on water changes and run my GFO and Carbon.

I have the same problem. Finding a skimmer that fits the compartment that actually works is a challenge. I have one of the air stone driven ones right now. Might as well not even have one.

The problem with the Tunze or any of the in chamber skimmers is they only fit in the center chamber. The center chamber is also the only spot the water intake is for the chambers as seen in the photo below. You'd of course have to ditch the media basket which it seems half the people do anyway. So if you block that only water intake then does water even flow into the chambers? If anyone actually uses the Tunze on the JBJ 28g cube I'd like to hear. I know the other sizes have different intake locations so the Tunze might work better.

I purchased and use an aqua c remora on my jbj 28. It is not nearly as loud as i expected it to be, but it looks like mine is a revised version with a new cap.

It took me a long while (2, 3 days?) to figure out exactly how it works, but works it does.
