Skimmer Help! Euro-Reef

I have the RS-180. Has a GenX-4100 (new pump model)

Gate Valve Mod

It calls to sit in 6-8 inches of water. It's at 6.5" ( I had it higher and the guy from ER said to lower the amount of water)

It is overflowing.

The output on the gate valve is not under water
The gate valve is all the way open.
I have no more room to raise the skimmer
The water that is overflowing is CLEAR

When I turn it off, the water drains and basically begins to float. Should this happen?

There's only so many things going on so it's driving me nuts not being able to figure this out

Anyone?

Sometimes the venturi can have a poor casting and not be completely open...check this first, run a drill bit through it to make sure it is open.

agreed with the old man. It is not getting air----I know this sounds bad but try blowing the air hose and see if it kicks in

On my other skimmers, I had the air tubing with nothing on the top of it. This one has a valve that you can open/close. Obviously I have it the correct way but should I just cut that off?

don't cut it off, it should pull out, it is a fine air adjustment, make sure it is open all the way or pull it out.

The milk crate did not work? You definetly are not sucking enough air in. The ventury might be missaligned or blocked off. Does the reaction chamber fill up with bubbles when it is on? The skimmer is floating because you have it too faar out of water. It also might have some kind of an air pocket in there....

take the valve off and try that (the air control valve)

contact euro-reef and ask if you should drill out the air line hole like the older sedra pumps for better performance

take the gate valve off and try it also

just try a few things--please

Well I took off the air control valve.
I'm looking for the standard riser tube that came with it.
Venturi is clean

BK- The milk crate actually works perfect. At 6.5" with gate valve I should have no issues. How's the fish?

It looks like a TON of air/bubblesin the chamber. I'm beyond confused. Roy is coming over and hopefully he can help but there is just so little to these things. It's making me mad. I feel like an idiot.

Let's hope that Roy can figure this out.

I did a water change on my tank after I got home then I tossed in the tomini. He loves the tank and the tank loved the water change. The few surviving coral are waking up.
