Roger ,
I posted here earlier about the tunze skimmers and my tank is on the way , so now I have a few more questions.
I am setting up a 180 gallon mixed tank . I think you said that I would want to use a 230/2 skimmer , I have been looking at the tunze pages and was wondering if there is a seperate collection cup for this skimmer . I have seen where the big skimmer has a seperate collection cup that can be hooked up to it . I was hopeing to hook the drain line up to my drain to make life a little easier . Is this possible with a tunze skimmer , or does it need to be pressurized ? What is the heigth of the water level need to run these skimmers . I remember you saying that they needed a constant water lever to function properly . Does the water lever needed change from model to model or is it a standard level . I am working with on getting a custom sump built for my tank and I want to get it set up right for the tunze skimmers . Do you have a owners manual on the 230/2 in pdf ?

Sorry, I am very tired- I packed and shipped out over 600lbs of freight today and forgot. The blow off hose isn't used anymore and frankly- it sucked. The new 240/3 has gotten pretty strong response from the two I sold. The new cup design doesn't allow the blow off tube anyway. They changed the cup and upgraded the venturi and now outside of a tendency to make some bubbles which exit the skimmer it works very well so if you want to go bigger I can recommend it now but I still think the 230/3 is quite sufficient it also has been upgraded.

I suppose there is no reason you could not hook up a drain hose by drilling the cup but one of my favorite features of Tunze skimmers is the cups hold .7L which is quite a bit. The cup also shuts down the foam column when full so it won't foam over.

The depth required for 220/3, 230/3 and 240/3 is the same 2.3 to 3.5" and of course you can prop it up on a stand of some sort to raise it- we offer part 1281.32 which raises the depth to 6.1 to 6.8".

If you have 11" to work with I can really recommend the new Comline models I really like the new design, they have new one piece venturis, a nicer body, heavy gauge silicon airline and a bigger silencer assembly making them nearly inaudible. Not that the others are loud and similar changes were made on the centrifugal model.

Send me an email and I will respond with the PDF. It is almost 1mg and features all the skimmers.

If you need it now- I have in stock 220/3, 230/3 and 235/3 as well as 3115/2 things are pretty lean until January some of the dealers have stock on hand in addition.
