I am plain out my tank and need to find out what octopus skimmer to buy. here is what I have a 215 gallon oceanic tank, 55 gallon sump, 20 gallon fuge. so I have a total volume of 290 . I was considering the octopus oct-dnw- 200 which is rated for 300.
do you think this is a good choice or should I go with a bigger one the oct - ddnw - 150 . any help would be great. thanks

I don't want to go crazy on a skimmer . I feel I rather put my money into lighting and flow. so I was think around $400 to $500

I don't have much knowledge on the Octopus, but it's a recirculating skimmer which is good. The Euro-Reef is not, but the design is in the modified pump. From all I've heard, the Euro-Reef is pretty amazing. The Octopus is, I believe from reading on their website, an externally plumbed skimmer. The Euro-Reef is an in-sump skimmer. I just know Euro-Reef the company is solid and will back their products in case of failure. Something I definitely want when I'm spending $500 for a piece of equipment. ;)

Oh, well dang for that I'd go with a Euro-Reef. You can get the RS250 for less than 5 bills. This is the skimmer I'm getting for my 180 build.

I agree. Euro Reef Skimmers are by far better. I also agree "The bigger the better". Octopus skimmers are just an copy of Euro Reefs. IMO skimmers are the most importain thing on your tank. You will not be sorry you spent a little bet more on a good skimmer. It makes a world of difference in a good reef tank...
