Skimmer help

I have an ASM G4 skimmer and am looking for some modification help. I am not very handy and was wondering if any experts are willing to come by for pizza, beer, cash to make some adjustments so it runs more efficiently. I have heard this can really help.

I am in Chesterfield.

Thanks

An asm g4 is wayyyy undersized for your size tank. I dont know how many mods would help. Have you thought about a new skimmer?

Gotta agree with John here. A G4 seems a bit smallish on a 375 to me. Unless you like very small fish. It would work ok if you had no eating machines like fade does.

With a dual recirc mod it might work, but if you were going to do that, you shoud have just bought a bigger skimmer.

What is it stocked like now?

I was afraid of that...I had a local LFS put the whole tank together and they insisted that the G4 was fine.

Right now, I have a scribbled rabbit, blonde naso, kole, chevron (baby), convict, purple, 2 nemos, royal gramma, sixline, fairy wrasse, lawnmower blenny, goby (i think watchman)

I am fairly light on corals...everything is doing well fish and corals. I clean the skimmer every 3 days. The refugium and sump bring the total water volume to about 550. Parameters are fairly steady, except the PH and ALK have been running on the low side of the normal range.

Should I get a better skimmer?

It depends on what you want to keep and how long your nitrats stay down. Where are your trats right now?

I just bought the 250 not the external however. I did not see a need to spend the extra cash on something that I would never use out side the sump...

the 250 is what I was looking for.

It is a great, solid, easy to set up skimmer. I like it very much... It was between a deltec and the H&S..... The more I thought about it the more I was leaning toward the H&S.

Its been set up for less than a week and it has pulled out some really dark colored skimmate.

HTH

I have a H/S A250 external and it skims very well. So was I wrong Chris how well they are put togather.

Nope, I think I could drop this off my roof and it would not hurt it, thick acrylic, hard solid plastic, very well built.

Thanks for the advice, After seeing this and the Deltec at M$, I am glad I talked to you about it. Im sure Deltec performs well, this skimmer will last me until I feel the need to upgrade to a 500g :)

oh wait that thing is rated up to 750g...

Fade...Just sent you a pm...I ordered the H&S A250 and have a few questions

Congrats on buying the last skimmer you will ever own :)

*edited to remove something I just saw in another forum that is apparently not allowed to talk about here - never mind*

oops, sorry, just saw the post that said you ordered an H&S. Be sure to post pics :)

Can't wait to get it. It is getting shipped on Monday. Will get some picks once it is up and running.

I will be pumping the water from my sump with an Eheim 1260.

This should really help.
