I currently have a lifereef svs-24 on a 125 gallon tank.

I am thinking of getting a Royal Exclusiv Bubble King 200 internal to put in my new 90 gallon sump.

Is it worth $1600?? I am currently battle algae issues as well and I feel I should be getting a lot of skimmate.

If you would not buy this skimmer, what would be your very next pick and why?

I have:

1 kole tang
2 false perculas
1 mandarin (that eats frozen food too )
crabs, shrimp, etc..

20ish frags for coral.

Thank You

go with the Bubble King. you won't regret it. in case you want to get a bigger tank in the future ( 99% you will get it as most of us do :) )you will not have to spend on a skimmer again also.

if you do not want to spend that much, check out the ATI Bubblemaster 250 or the SWC Cone skimmers. they are both good skimmers for their value.

if your getting alot of algea issues then you may want to check into not just your skimmer. do you feed alot, do you do water changes regularly, is your tank over stocked, are your bulbs old??...... there are alot of other things that could be causing your problem as well. i know i would want to make sure that it was infact my skimmer before i spent a whole bunch of money on a replacement.

No I feed just enough for the fish to eat in a couple minutes, I do 15% weekly water changes with RO/DI, bulbs are only 6 months, and I use a GFO/Carbon reactor... I've heard from others that the skimmer is worthless so I'm willing to give it a try.

Have you talked to Jeff At Lifereef. Maybe he can help you dial the skimmer in. I am looking for a used 72" version of there skimmer.

There's nothing to do. It states the skimmer will only skim when conditions are right. I've tried tons of increments up and down. I am just going to buy a Octopus Extreme 250 and compare it's performance to my lifereef.
