Skimmer Hose Venting Outside

Running an air line outside has helped some hobbyists with high CO2 levels in their house. If you decide to do this, I would make sure to attach a carbon air filter at the end of the outside line. Pesticide applications & other contaminates would wipe out a tank otherwise. ;)

I run an airline in from the outside with an air pump outside the house and a wood air stone in part of the sump area. I just installed a BRS carbon filter inline based on above as we have regular mosquito control spraying in the area. For me, keeps pH consistently above 8.1 now instead of the 7.7 or lower saw before.

I've run my air intake outside as well using 1/2" Polyethylene tubing (i.e. ice-maker tubing) and it has worked great. It not only raised my pH, it reduced the noise of my skimmer substantially.

The line drops through the floor, across the ceiling of the basement and draws underneath our deck. All-in-all ~25' to 30' with no negative impact on the skimmer that I can tell.
