Skimmer needed in seahorse only tank?

I have a 29 gallon tall tank with a 20 gallon sump/fuge. Do i need a skimmer with seahorses? Or would a hob filter work just fine?

I've got a 35g hex and a 55g w/ SH's and corals, neither have a skimmer. been doing fine for a year w/out one. just my experience though

Depends on the filter. IMO I like to have a good strong filter used with the refugium. The filter can pull out detritus as well as be a place for media. I would look into a cannister fiter so you have more control over the media.

If your refugium houses macro alagaes, IME, you do not need a protein skimmer.
