Skimmer of choice for aggressive soft coral system

I need a new skimmer and wonder what the crowd browsing these posts would recommend. I have a 125 that houses an old Assasi Trigger and an old Hepatus Blue Tang who get grouchy if underfed. I have an old AquaC 90 running with a Mag5 pump in conjunction with a Remora on the top. Together they are not enough to discourage algae growth. I am considering the Deltec 600, H&S of the same size. Deltec skimmate is always darker than the Euroreef or ASM needlewheels.

Thanks,

Kathy

Part of the problem with the algae growth could be you have high nitrates or your tank has phosates. You need to also get these under control also. Since the tank has been running for a long time you problem have some thing that is producing nitrates in your system that water changes and 2 skimmers are helping to control.

I have a Spectra Pure RO system that pulls the phosphates from our water. According to the water company, phosphates are not present in our water supply. Yes, I'm sure the nitrates are present. I have deep sand, but it isn't able to process the load. A friend of mine suggested I weigh my livestock and only feed 2% of their mass. Somehow that seems a naieve approach to nutrition. I think it was a joke. Anyway, I still think better skimming will help. Are the external recirculating models a significant improvement over those put into the sump?

Thanks for your insight.
