skimmer overflowing

i've been trying to run my new ASM G3 (adjusted to the lowest level) on my sump, but every time i try it's overflowing. i believe the reason is i used stress coat when i transfered all my fish to a the new tank. is there a way to take the stress coat out of the water? i tried using carbon and it doesn't seem to work

Make sure your venturi isnt slightly clogged. In non-recirc needlewheels, reduced air causes a rise in water level.

The stress coat will do that. Some large water changes will help. In the mean time, reduce the air intake flow.
