Skimmer predicament ...

I currently have a 215. Next year I was planning to go to something in the 500 gallon range utilizing as much tunze stuff as possible.

Well today my skimmer pump went out (h&s200). So now I need a skimmer for this tank but don't want to buy one now and another next year unless I'm forced into it.

Do you think the 9430 would be a wise choice to run now and on the tank when I upgrade. The future tank will be a few anemones and fish. Nothing that needs pristine water.

Do you have a better suggestion?

or would just utilizing a tunze pump for the h&s body be a better temporary solution.
The h&s body is about 8" in diameter and 24" tall. The factory pump is a needle wheel eheim 1260.

It could work to just replace the pump, but the main issue I see is most H&S skimmers use a recirculating design so the intake of the pump is also plumbed to the skimmer and our pump won't work in that configuration, it is not sealed tight and the intake is a mixing volute with no thread or standard/metric slip possibility. The 9430 DC is out now and has an even higher rating of 925 gallons of a fish only/FOWLR, 275 gallons of a fully packed with fish and SPS tank, the rating for a tank of the type you propose would be 740 and would be more than enough for the upgrade.

if you think the 9430 dc would be appropriate for both tanks thats probably the best route. My current H&S is non recirculating but id rather not spend money on something temporary.

I cant seem to find the 9430 DC for sale anywhere. Any leads?

They literally just arrived a couple days ago, Marine Depot should have them very soon.
