Skimmer problem

I have a mini bubble king skimmer thats a few months old. Its in my sump and the water level stays consistent. The other day the skimmer water level went up on its own and caused the cup to overflow. It was not a situation that my system was contaminated and caused it to over work. I checked the venturi to see if that was clogged. It was fine. I shut the unit down and cleaned it out. I did not remove the pump I just washed out the system just i n case something was causing the problem.
Well the sad thing is that I had to leave the country for a few days and was a nervous wreck.

The problem happened again!!! my system almost crashed. The skimmer did it again. It overflowed again causing my auto top off to go crazy. I came home just in time to save my corals.

I now have a algae bloom and have done a water change. i dialed in my skimmer and it wont stay set.
Jason can you call me please
Thanks Jay

I will pm you my number

I read the owners manuel and it said i should periodically inspect the needle wheel for debris. I figured I should follow all manufacturers procedures.
It was very simple to dismantle the unit. Once I really got the cover off i discovered a few tiny snail shells stuck in the needle wheel. I cleaned everything thoroughly and started it back up. It seems to be working much better. I will make sure my level stays put.

Jason I will PM you if I need your help.

thanks:)

Kinda, a generic problem with all skimmers..
But, when you have had no-- know problems,, then, have a problem, we forget the simple things! (snails/etc)

I totally agree. It is a work horse of a skimmer:)

Pro line called me and helped me figure things out.

Thats why i deal with PA. PEASE OF MIND :D
