Hey all, a few months back I got a Deltec MCE600 skimmer.. From day one it seemed noisy, but it pulled skimmate out like crazy, so I was cool about it.. However recently I took apart the skimmer to clean it all.. I also got new grommits for the impellor ceramic rod and stuff that were from deltec to help with the noise issue...
Unfortunately after everything was put back together, the skimmer was even LOUDER.. Much louder in fact and didn't appear to be working properly. One thing I was slightly confused about was when I took out the pump for the first time if I lightly pushed on the needle wheel in one direction it would move.. But it wasn't a fluid movement, more like a notched movement.. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that its magnetic.. However I'm wondering if the noise is just due to the one end not being seated all the way in?
I could have sworn I pushed it down firmly to make it go in, but maybe it wasn't enough.. Is there a good way of doing this without breaking the ceramic rod or damaging the pump?
Is there anything else I should be looking for to determine what's causing the noise?
Thanks!
