Skimmer Pump

Hey guys

I have a problem. I have a ER skimmer that I just plugged in and the thing is bloody loud. The vibrations just echo in my stand. Is there any way I reduce it? Any suggestions will help.

oh also, will using a ball valve mod for the return on the skimmer help eliminate microbubbles? I already have baffles in the sump. but it's not enough. Thanks

I had a loud E R RS-80 promo! I sent chip at er a email and he sent me a new impeller assembly which reduced the noise to a minimal level. isolating vibration as suggested above is also a good idea.

It's just my dolphin pump. So far i've tried the filter pad and the sand... it's still pretty loud. I mean it reduced the noise level some with the sand bag but it's still pretty loud. It's not as quite as my ocean runner pump..

my 12-2 has Sedra's, it's sitting directly on the bottom of the sump inside the stand where any noise would be amplified dramatically, it's dead quiet.

and it's because you used poly filter? hmm..

no i have no padding/sand/filter/etc under my pumps or skimmer body, it sits directly on the acrylic floor of the sump. i have no vibration or noise other then the air sucking in the tubes.

Is the skimmer old? Check the impeller. Is it in good shape?
