Skimmer Pumps?

Which pump would you guys use on 8" diametar 29" tall reaction chamber and 38" total height skimmer?

I was thinking Gen-X 6000 LHP Pump NEEDLE WHEEL or some kind of moded EIHEM...

i know the eheim should get the 1262 bigger intake

I have not quiet figured out all of the physics behind a skimmer so any help or thought would be great...

I would make it recirculating and use two of the Gen X or Oceanrunner pumps. The needlewheel or pinwheel Eheims are way too expensive. If you go recirc then you can get funky with the power and still feed it small amounts.

You may have other ideas but that is what I would do. Recirc makes it easier to keep the foam stable and requires less attention.

I agree with this old dusty fart here. And I second the Oceanrunner pumps. In fact I'm surprized that Farmer has never voted them in. They are a high quality pump @ a resonable price.

One thing to note...the more air you feed in via the pumps the larger the neck has to be to accommodate that air.

I Pmed Hahnmeister bu got no answer yet. i got he skimmer built to the point where I will need to buy a pump and start plumbing the thing...

Compared to my euro reef rs-100 this thing is a monster...

I like the oceanrunners but they are way too large.

I'm now thinking 2 or 3 Quiet one 3000 if I can mesh mod them or somehow do the pinwheel? They are the same as the SICCE pumps and with 3 of them I would still only run 120W.
