I ended up getting this: http://www.myreefcreations.com/OF-100, with a skimmer stand to raise it up 4 to 5 inches.

Depending in the skimmer you can easily stick you hand in there to clean it. I know in the 200/250/300 this is possible.

why is it when i feed my fish my skimmer stops skimming and then has to build back up?

So I purchased a Reef Octopus (SWC NW 200) from a friend, but he doesn't have the manual.
The only thing I cannot figure out is the air tubing. The airline goes from a PVC piece (attached to the intake of the Octo pump) into one of two male holes attached to an enclosed black "thing." Does anyone know what to do?

sounds like the black "thing" is your silencer...attach the airline hose to it and it will "silence" the noise you would ordinarily here when the air is being sucked into the airline tubing... try it with and without and you'll see what I mean

Ahhh!! I haven't turned it on yet, so that makes sense. I figured it was like the tubing on the ER skimmers - where you can adjust the air valve.

This question has been answered many times in it's appropriate thread/threads. Here's a hint: Do a search for Octo Extreme, MSX, or SWC skimmer threads. Or you can PM a skimmer owner. I have an Octo X 200.

lol, I think i left it un answered because it is available in other threads.
The bubble plate comes out. Not sure how much more in depth one can be. Well one unsatified person out of a couple thousand isnt bad. Not to mention this is all done for free....

sorry, i just thought that your questions was already answered. And its a RC thread. I just answer most of the questions is all. I answer them on here, and a couple other sites. Plus I give my Cell # to people and talk to them on the phone too. I am here to help. Sorry you didnt feel I was doing a good job. I will try to step up my game a little bit. Sorry Family issues and trying to get custody of my kids has taken my attention from this. Again sorry frank but they come before your skimmer question. Again I ll try to do better than I already do.

Perhaps you could go over to the T5 Q&A thread Mojo and see what they are doing right. Perhaps you could get some sort of idea of where you went wrong.:thumbsup:
