Skimmer Q&A Thread

Anyone know where to acquire a dwyer rma-22 online? Just did a google search and nothing came up as far as retail goes. Do I need any accessories to test?

I just picked up a dwyer rmb-53 off ebay for $30. In another thread it was suggested to stick with the RMB or RMC (most expensive) models as they are more reliable. The RMA series I guess causes enough back preasure on skimmers to mess the reading up with the RMC causing the least amount of back preasure. I believe it was in a Warner Marine K2 thread.

By the way that is my DIY sump and my K2 skimmer in the photo

That looks like an awesome skimmer too! That was a great thread to read through too.

So sorry if this is OT from this thread but I'd like to confirm that I'm reading this right since this is the first air flow meter I've had.

If I'm not mistaken I'm reading the following as 12 scfh not 10?

Just to clarify Mojo, if I could get the ASM G1 for the price of the Vertex or NAC6, you'd still go with them over the G1? My decision is hinging on this. No pressure.
Yea the asm is a good skimmer but I think the newer models have better technology. THe nac 6 will pul more air at about 500lph, the vertex is probably the better design coming in at 400 to 450 lph. The asm g1 is about 300 ish. But a good stable skimmer.

Mojo. Thanks so much for your input, and this should be my last question. Which is quieter, the nac6 or in-100?

I know this question will probably start a riot but here it goes anyway. What skimmer would you guys suggest for a 150rr. Starting an upgrade and not sure what skimmer is on the tank " bought it really cheap and comes as plug and play" I looked at the tank stand sump canopy. and lights but didn't feel like digging through the barrel of pumps, heaters skimmer, uv sterilizer, etc. The tank and stand were very worth the buy and it is coming with a Coralife elite 3x 250watt 4 pc fixture moonlights as well. any way any suggestions welcome. I will have a budget so I'll probably go used if I can, but again not sure what is on the tank. Picking it up next week.

Hi Mojo, Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some advice.

I have a 46g bow front, 30 gallon sump (100g volume rubbermaid) and a 20g refugium. I would like to upgrade to a 120g DT when I have the money. I'm starting corals and want to build quality pieces one at a time.

I was looking at Vertex In180, and the alpha 170 on sale $585 at Salty Supply.

Are these doable on my current system and proposed upgrade? What would you suggest?

that's a great price ($585) for Royal Exclusive Alpha 170 Cone Protein Skimmer! never seen that price before, but I just checked saltysupply.com, it appears the skimmer is listed for $779. do I have to enter any promotion code in order to get this price?
