Thanks for the info Jesse. It would be for a 65G with TBD stocking level, and a basement sump, so noise level is not a concern. The BB pumps are pretty good pumps. I dont like the XP1000 SSS with the pump underneath and a very small looking body above it. The SRO looks like a better design. The In100 with a better pump is a nice skimmer. I wish Vertex and ER would ditch the Resuns and use better pumps.

yea I agree. the skimz sm 121, or sk 181 would work too. but the sro 1000 might be the better plug and play option. I am not a fan of the 1000 sss model either with the offset bubble plate and the large step as it goes into the neck. The 1000 sro int has a better design over the sss model imo. either way I think you will be set. The aquamaxx am 100 might be a good way to go too. Basically aquamaxx is the old warner marine line re labeled

I think I am going to go with the skimz 121 on my 58 because of the footprint. Are the SRO models much better than this? My only concern is the better plug/play option of the SRO.

Thats correct.

the nw 200 uses a octo 3000 turbine pump with a pinwheel/needlewheel the xs uses a sicce syncra psk 1000

What does all that mean to you. The nw 200 does pull a good amount of water. This gives it a good rating for larger tanks as it processes a good amount of water. However the pump on the xs may pull a little less water but pull around 800 to 900 lph of air. About double what the stock nw pulls on the 200. Now you can mod out the nw 200 pump and get more performance out of it but it does take some work and it will void the warranty on the pump.

XS 200 is a better option for sure.

I have an ATB 840 on a 190g twv system, do you guys think this is undersized? I bought it because of the small footprint but now I have made room to run any size external skimmer, what would you recommend?

I honestly never cared for the alpha's. Just not that well balanced. The 250 is huge and is too big. The 200 model is the best balanced of the group of alphas. That wwould be a better bet over the 250 for sure.

I had the first 250 that came into the us and then a 170. Had many issues. with both. They have made improvements. Just too large of a neck and too small of a body for my liking.

the elegance is external pump the elegance pro has the pump internal.

Well most like around 5x to 10x flow though the sump Usually aim for about 10x before head loss on a standard tank stand. So if you have a mag 7 and it runs about 500 after that leaves you about 7.5x flow through the sump. Hope that helps ...

The 1000 is a really good fit for your tank now but with the heavy vodka dosing you will have to watch it. If it gets really heavily stocked you may have to bump up to the 2000 int. But I would think if its pulling well I would just stay with it.
