how about a 90 gallon, with a 30 gallon sump, The sump probably only holds 20 gallons at the most. Would an SRO xp1000sss be ideal? I already have it, and am wantin to upgrade from my 40 gallon breeder to this tank if this will be alright. I see some sites have it rated at 125 heavy.

the 1000sss would be ok at first but I dont think it will keep up when you heavily stock the 90. Just depends on the fish load really.

fish, i would probably go with 2 clown fish, 2-4 firefish, and a tang, blenny, thats pretty much all i think.

you can try it out. I think it will be ok if you keep up on water changes ect..

I would say up to about a 120g tank. The tunze pump and miniairstar are a nice match for it.

Really the SRO 2000 is a great fit, the JNS sk2, the ATB 840, the aquamaxx am 150, and the bm nac 7. THe sro 2000 is probably one of the best bang for you buck units with the BB 2000 pump.

Thanks! I went with the SRO 3000XP external. It was my first choice but I was concerned it might have been too much skimmer. I'm thinking with an external I have more adjustments available for dwell time. When the new XS250's were introduced they really caught my eye as I like the new Sicci pumps for efficiency.

The skimz SK181 is a great skimmer for sure. Just not a lot of them out there. The NAc 7 and the xp 2000 are good as well and each has its place. The nac 7 is a nice skimmer for a more budget minded reefer. The xp2000 has a little nicer transition to the neck and pulls more air and water than the nac7. The sk 181 kind of sits in the middle of these two when you look at the specs. But is closer to the xp 2000. However the skimz line needs to be out longer to prove themselves here in the states. THe es 2800 pump on the sk 201 I had was a little loud for my liking. Louder than the bb2000 pump. the es 2000 pump on the sk181 had been reported to be more quiet.

I hope that info helps. I like the design of the Skimz. But like the performance of the BB 2000 pump....

thanks for the reply Mojo. I thought as much. Have you any opinion on the BM-180A ? I believe it is a little better and bigger than the NAC7, but not sure.

gtt 9 will work, i ran mine at 8" but thats the level for my sump, worse case u could stick a piece of egg crate under it to raise it the inch

I have a sro 5000xp in a 185 gallon system lightly stocked at this time. Sump water level 6 inches. Where should the water line be in the skimmer. I have the bubbles popping at the bottom of collection cup at this time. Is this skimmer overkill for this system. Was planning on having about 30 fish in it.

the 3000 is the right size now but when you have it fully loaded the 5000 will be fine. I would bump the level up just abit.

mojo my n-100 pump finally died I need a replacement pump which one do you suggest sicce psk 600 psk1000 or Atb mini airstar what is the difference in the airstar and psk 1000 This will be for my 90 gal are should I just get a bigger skimmer

the psk600 is a good fit on the in 100. or if you just want a stock replacement. yu can get a eco 633 water pump and reuse your pinwheel and your venturi.

Is the aquamaxx venture my only option for the psk 600. I hear they do not let enough air in is this true.
