Skimmer Q&A Thread

ON a 700gallon L shaped tank with overflow on each side of the L would you run 2 skimmers for each overflow and what would u recommend? It has to be able to stay under the tank.

I've narrowed my decision for an in-sump skimmer between the Reef Octopus Extreme XS-200, and the Aquamaxx Cone 2, for my 150G. Have you had a chance to try the Aquamaxx Cone series skimmers yet, and if so how do they compare?

Mojo- Is a KZ small to big for a 60gallon with heavy bioload? also what would you recommend for a 60gallon with heavy bioload

It would do fine. a little big but theneck isnt huge so you could get away with it. The sro 1000, sea side aquatics cs1,vertex in 100 are all great choices though

THe SRO 7000, Or the ETSS 1000xr. The Bermuda bps k10 is great too. I think you will be better off with one larger skimmer when it comes to money and ease of use.

if you can swing it. the sk2 has a longer transition and has a little nicer adjustment for the water level.

THey are very nice.

im going to have a 135 gallon dt with a 55 gallon sump, and with a very heavy bio load. which would be better?

Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer 9011

Reef Octopus 8 (250 Gallon) In Sump Pinwheel Protein Skimmer w/ Bubble Plate

ASM G-4 Protein Skimmer w/ Sedra 5000 Pump

ASM G-4+ Protein Skimmer w/ Sedra 9000 Pump

BM200S Skimmer w/ Syncra Psk1000 pump

all would be ok, the g4+ would be better over the reg g4

with that said I would take a look at the Aquamaxx am 250 with the sedra 9000. Its a great unit and will cycle a ton of water. The seaside aquatics cs2 with the psk 1000 and the octo xp 2000 that also uses the psk 1000. depends on what your sump water level would be.

8 inches should still be ok, the water level will be some where around the ring right before it transitions to the neck.
