Yes, the largest beckett or Mazzie venturi powered skimmer, preferably made of "cast cell" and not "extruded" acrylic, you can afford.
Can the breed of DC pumps provide sufficient pressure to run a becket skimmer like the Mtc HSA1000? Or maybe one of the larger Lagunas? It seems like that would be a good compromise if you had the space. I'm still weighing my options for my 315 gallon reef. The suggestion that beckets need frequent adjustment /maintenance gives me pauses since I travel somewhat frequently.
In sump.
Well I think that "maintenance/adjustment" frequently on beckett's has been over blown. I service a clientele's system which has an hsa-1000 beckett. About once a month I will take the beckett nozzle out and give it a thorough clean and that is about all I do for maintenance on the hsa 1000 skimmer.
Another option (and I am letting the cat out of the bag here) is to look into the new power mezzei venturi skimmers that MTC has come out with recently. They have a couple of these external power re-circulating venturi design's including pump that are absolutely amazing ! Build quality is second to none and I am very anxious to get one up and operating !!!
Deltec sc 1455 might be a good option for you. I don't know your availability.

It's rated up to 800 litres, are you sure it's not a bit too big and powerful for my tank? I would also have to check the height in my sump, this thing is over 20" high!
Bernie! I went on their web site and could not find anything on the re-circ venturi. Do you have any info or pictures.

Here is their big beast which is designed for aquariums 200 gallons +.
This skimmer is approximately 60 inches + in height , 8 "inch diameter X 30"inch tall reaction chamber. Large 6"X 17" tall neck/cup. Uses 6 X 1"inch mezzei venturi's recirculating through an panworld pressure pump which is on the other side of the box attached to the base of the skimmer.
1 1/2 inch output , all ball valves and unions for the venturi's are of the highest quality from spears. This skimmer would be MY personal choice if someone doesn't want to mess around with anything -hands off if you will !
impressive... I wonder if those are the same old school 1" mazzei injectors or if they've been revamped/modified.
and I keep waiting for some of those fancy injectors from the oil and gas aeration industries to hit protein skimmers...

Those are I believe the tradition mazzei injectors . I've worked with these some time ago on a custom skimmer and they are awesome for producing very fine bubbles and will last you a lifetime of operation !
Mazzei are the real deal venturis. I see the so called experts comment about them often but they really don't know the difference between a Mazzei and the "home made" knock offs that were so prevalent for a while in the pet industry.
