The cone 2 would be a little bit big on a 50 but it should be fine. I wouldn't buy a smaller skimmer since your going to upgrade. Will the aquamaxx cone 2 be too big for a 50 gal? I have a 50 cube with sump and am anticipating going up to a 125 next spring. I'm not really happy with my BM NAC6, I only seem to get light tea out of the thing.
Oh yea, I also have a 55 gal tank that will be my sump on the 50(and the 125 down the road) I know everyone looks at water volume, but part of why you need a bigger skimmer is more livestock in a bigger tank.
Its really hard to keep up with all the different skimmers out now. You really hear good and bad about all of them. I want to get something that will be good for a few years, and can be used over a few tank sizes(my current 50, and the 125 I'm planning on) and if the 125 falls through, If I go to a 150, that cone 2 should still be good right?
The question is.... Define great results
Just about Any small undersized skimmer will pull out skimmate .... The question is can it keep up with and stay ahead of the bio load.
Ok one more question. I am still on the fence.
Aquamaxx cone 2 or omega 150?
Again, 50 gal display with another 30 water volume now, should be about 140 total when I get the 125 up this next spring/summer.
The aquamaxx hands down! Vertex thought they could fool everybody with extra thick acrylic but forgot to balance their skimmer. The body on the vertex is undersized for the pump. The air/water ratio is off. The aquamaxx is balanced to near perfection.
Dude, calm down about the Aquamaxx, sheesh.
The Vertex is nicer and you can control the air draw and balance to your particular tank. The Aquamaxx is good value for the money but the Vertex is all around nicer. I would be surprised if it skimmed out any better.
Hey guys I need some help. When shopping for a skimmer what does the foot print represent? I'm trying to.figure out if the skimmer I chose will fit in my sump. I have a 30 gallon oceanic sump 36x13x16 and I want to purchase an Aquamaxx Cone 2 which has a foot print of 13x8. Will the skimmer fit? Any help is greatly appreciated
Will an aquamaxx cone 2 be enough for a mixed 120g reef? I have been seeing good reviews for the aquamaxx brand my budget is no more then $300.00
Is the Cone 2 waaaay to oversized for a total of 75 gallons of water? I suppose I could stock the tank heavily with fish and sps. The deal looks to good to pass up
Not really. Aquamaxx puts seriously stupid ratings in their specs.
