Hey guys, i have Reef octopus elite with variable speed pump. My question is should i go to setting 5 with the waterflow all the way open? or setting 4 (lower speed) with waterflow all the way closed (atleast almost all the way closed) ? Any suggestions ?

You use what ever settting works best. Things like sump depth, salinity and even load can impact that. Start at full power and let it run for a while. Then back it down one step and see what it does. Then wait and repeat until you determine the optimal setting. Also keep in mind that it will take a week or two for the skimmer to fully settle in. As such, there will likely be changes in the skimmers performance over that ttime.

I run a Bubble King skimmer that has a 50 watt variable speed pump and optimal for me is around 37-38 watts.
