Skimmer question

awestruck

New member
I recently posted about finding a good HOB skimmer. However, I have a really awesome in-sump kimmer out in the garage that goes with my 75g. (which I haven't sold). Who knows how to make this skimmer work on my
30g? Currently the sump is connected to the back of my little AIO, so something else would have to be done; unforturnately, I don't know how to do this. Any ideas/thoughts?

Thanks.

To save lots of questions and explaination, try posting a picture of the skimmer and a picture of where you want it put.

lol... :)

I can't take a pic right now...sorry.

I guess I'd have to have a little sump that sits in the cabinet and put the skimmer in that. And then, what, buy a HOB overflow and plumb it like that?

If your tank is not drilled, then you would need a HOB overflow.

People put sumps in there basement, so you could put your sump just about anywhere, as long as you can plumb between the two.

JMO, but I don't trust HOB overflows, not that I ever had one, just the concept of it scares me.

best of luck

Or build a platform on the top edge of the tank and plumb everything water tight. Sorry I can't be of more help...

Thanks for the input guys!!! J, you're kinda silly :) If I'm not sure how to plumb this, I doubt I could build a platform. Being "unhandy" is a bummer in this hobby.

Send Photo. Depends on skimmer as to what is modifyable and how it is to work. For that matter, you could just build an old airstone driven skimmer and that would satisfy immediate needs.

Not silly. Just find "work around" solutions for many of my problems since I can't throw money at them...to fix them.

In this hobby, to be around for a long time, you either are/become handy.... or must be prepared to buy everything you need in the form you need it. (have $ to throw at it to fix it.)

Let me know.
