So, I've got two skimmers....one for the DT, another for the QT.
On the DT I've got a Reef Octopus 150sss in-sump, and on the QT I've got an Aquatic Life Mini 115.
At first I thought the Mini was a piece of crap because the water level was always filling up the skimmer cup (albeit not overflowing it).
But, just today I went to clean it (it's been a while!) and I found lots of very concentrated skimmate collected at the bottom of the cup. Keep in mind the cup is full of water.
Now, I've been having trouble tuning the Reef Octopus, getting the sludge to go over the edge into the collection cup rather than on the inside edge where the bubble wall is. It seems very finicky.
But now I have just begun to wonder, what if I set it to fill the cup? Is this what many reefers do? Would it overflow?
The reason I don't want to try this without any encouragement is because I've spent the last few weeks trying to tune it and I don't want to lose my progress.
