skimmer question

for my 90 fowlr im tihnking of getting 2 aqua c urchin pros would it be better to just get a bigger model? thanks for feedback

I have used the Urchin and the Remora Pro's with the Mag3 pump. If you get it with the Mag3, I would highly recommend getting the extended collection cup as the pump is too powerful for the standard cup and you can't raise it enough.

I have also used the EV series with the collection container. They do indeed stop foam production if the collection container fills up completely. I do not feel that the ports and tubing are large enough to allow adequate air flow from the collection cup to the collection container out the top of the container. I cannot put carbon in the container (to remove the stinky skimmate smell) because it restricts airflow too much and foam production stops until I remove the lid on the skimmer itself. They should use a 1" hose and connection from the cup to the collection container.

Other than that they all have been excellent skimmers. As far as choosing between which model, it all depends on sump space, height and cost.

thanks for your advice i tihnk im goign to go with the ev 180 instead of 2 urchins as it is better for me cost and space wise (the sump is 29 gal )

Cool. It's a good skimmer. If you get the collection container, either use no carbon, or a very light amount!
