Skimmer Recommendation

I upgraded from a 65 gallon to a 125 and I'm currently using my 65 gallon skimmer. I have a 30 gallon sump and don't run a fuge so have plenty of room. I might run a fuge in the future but have no plans for one right now. I am looking for a nice skimmer and don't want to go much over 400 bucks. I was planning on buying one at the first of the year but saw a bulk reef supply had a sale so was trying to decide on the skimmer so if a sale came up I could buy. The following list is my order of priorities for a skimmer.

1. Quiet
2. Good quality
3. Power consumption

Open to any and all recommendations but was looking at this Skimz brand and reef octopus. Thanks

I know that BRS had them on sale a few weeks ago for around $450 I also like AquaC skimmers but OP here are not fans. I still run one on my 230gal and it works great.

I'd just keep using the 65 gallon one. If it still works, save yourself $400. You might need to change it more often but it should be just about as effective.

I have a 65g with a recent upgrade to the REef Octopus Regal SSS170. For what you are looking for, it's right up your alley.

It's super quiet due to the DC motor.....which is also going to consume less power than an AC motor. It's controllable....which gives your more flexibility, light skimming run it on like a 2, heavy skimming bring it all the way up to a five.

In terms of reliability....I haven't had it that long, but would say that a DC motor will last longer than an AC motor.

Here is a quick pic for reference. While its a bit tight in my sump, it works awesome!! I took a pic after cleaning the cup, hence the reason for no foam in the upper chamber. I bought mine slightly used to keep the price reasonable and save some money.

I had a Vertex and liked it, but I had some problems with the pump. I switched to EShopp's and love it. I use an EShopps 75 on my 90G tank. It works great, affordable and quiet.
