Skimmer repair

What is it that you are trying to repair?

If its a crack in the skimmer body or something like that, you would be better off using #16 acrylic glue. I thought we had some lying around here so I could give you the name but I can't find it. It comes in a red tube and most LFS's will carry it.

It's Weld-On #16.

I checked my local HD and Lowes and no one had any so in my infinite impatience I used the abpve product to repair the skimmer.

Now I'm afraid I junked it. Quote from the Loctite website ...

Are your adhesives safe on dentures or dishes that I can eat or drink from?

No, our products are not FDA approved. Chemicals could leach out when the adhesive is wet or warmed.

Looks like I might be toast.

I wouldn't worry too much if you just fixed a crack. Let it cure for a few days & then run in a vinager bath for a day or so.

It was more than a crak. The entire neck busted off and I put it back on. Great repair if I do say so myself. It holds water! LOL!

Ray let me know how things are going.......I have a CS-8 skimmer body that Im using to cure live rock and would be will to let go at a reasonable price to help you out if you need it and it would be big enough. If you want some pictures let me know, its in operation now so you will see it in action.

Rodney I definitely have an interest in the skimmer body. Pls PM me a price and availability. Pics would be awesome.

Thanks!

I will try and get you some pictures tonight and upload them in the morning. Im not sure what size yours is now but the cup will come with it. I will also take pictures of the pump as well because its attached and you might find you will need it too. Its a beauty and works awesome.

Don't fret about the weld-on, I have built entire sump/fuge tanks using the stuff with no known side effects.

Didn't use Weld-On. Wish I had. :(

I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. What is allowed for human consumption and what we put in our tanks are really different "animals".

If it helps you sleep, sand it smooth and cover it with silicone.

Sorry for the delay.....
