Skimmer suggestion

I am currently in the process of setting up a 120 gallon reef tank with a 40 gallon sump, and not sure which protein skimmer to go with?

I've used both a vertex IN 180 and a Skimz SK181 on my 120 gallon with a 55 gallon sump and have been very happy with the both of them. Both are what I would call mid price point skimmers.

If I had to pick one, I would go with the Skimz SK181 as it is a little smaller than the vertex and fits better in my sump

What do you plan to keep? In general I would suggest the 9410, if you were keeping soft corals or a fish only, the 9011 would be fine, it is a bit quieter. If you were doing a SPS intensive tank with a lot of fish, the 9415 is likely the best choice (not yet available).

Thank you for the reply. The plan is to start with soft and lps corals, with a couple of fish. I'm considering the 9410 over the 9011. Any ideas on the release date for the 9415?

I think the 9410 is plenty for your planned set up. The 9415 is now in production and the first ones should arrive in the US in about 3 weeks.
