I'm using an AquaC EV-180 with a mag 9.5 on my SPS tank. It collects a decent amount of skimmate, but I also get a ton of buildup on the riser column--might even get as much gunk there as I get dissolved in the liquid skimmate in the cup. As a result, I have to wipe out the column every other day or so if I want it to keep performing well. Would a smaller skimmer, like the EV-120, be more appropriate and put more skimmate in the cup and less gunk on the walls of the riser column?
