I have two euro reef cs12-1 skimmer, one is a recirc model, the other is an insump model. They each use 2 sedra 5000 pumps, all of which are DOA at this point.
Jeff @ Reef Dynamics suggested I upgrade all the pumps to eheim 1262s and convert the in-sump to a recirc...but that's like $1300 and involves me drilling a bunch of holes in the current skimmers.
I have a 350g display with another 200g in sump/grow out with the likelihood of adding another 3-400g of additional tank (2nd display) in the next year.
I was considering buying a new skimmer instead. Maybe an SRO XP8000 external.
Or, I could try to mod my existing skimmers with different pumps that might be more efficient, like maybe trying to put a single bubbleblaster 5000 on each instead of two eheims.
The other thing I like about going w/a new skimmer is the option to buy an automatic cleaner and an external waste collector.
So...what would YOU do? Anyone have an 8000 that could weigh in? Any other good options I'm not thinking about?
