Skimmer

We just bought a new 60 gallon. We HAD a 38 gallon Innovative and it sprung a leak so we had to switch it out with a new one. Now that we have a little bigger tank we need to get a protein skimmer. I have look and there are a lot on the market. Can someone recommend one that's not going to break the bank.

Does anyone have one laying around they want to get rid of?

Thanks
Jim

I have an SC-302 on my 120 and absolutely love it. It was dirt cheap but performs like a beast.

Look around for SC-301 for your sized tank

The Skimmer is in. The instructions are garbage but I figured it out. BUT how do I know its running at the right level? I have never had one that was adjustable. And how do you guys deal with the microbubbles this thing puts out?

I also have the 302 works amazing once it is fine tuned and dialed in. mine is about 9 inches in the water and it took almost a month to get completely broken in so be patient. in terms of microbubbles, what I did was add an extra baffle in-between my skimmer section and my refuge to break up the surface tension a little better.

OK, Im thinking of cutting acrilyc or plexiglass to make baffels on my own. Just not sure what to use as the glue to hold them in place. I may just go ahead and buy the dam prefab filter sump.

that's what I did I have the trigger system ruby 36s it is a pretty badass sump.. I was still getting some micro bubbles though that's why I added that extra baffle and now it is flawless!!
