Skimmer ?

So I have a chance to up grade but I don't know if my skimmer could handle it. Right now my skimmer is rated for 110 gallons. I have a 55 + 20 sump + 5 sump. If I up grade it would be a 75 + 20 + 5.

Depends on what you are keeping. Is it a heavily stocked tank? SPS or LPS? How long do you run your lighting? Is your current skimmer in sump? Do you want to keep it in sump or move to an external setup?

It will be a mixed reef. The skimmer is made for the sump so yes it will stay in the sump. I have to look at the total water of the whole system right?

Really only time will tell, there are a lot of variables at play, but I suspect you will want to upgrade. Reef Octopus rates their skimmers middle of the road, assuming medium load and medium water quality. With a mixed reef, you are going to want high quality water, so you would need to keep a fairly low bio-load for it to work in the larger tank.

The size protein skimmer is dependent on the size of your display not your overall system. Don't include the size of your sump when making your decision. Also, don't hold the manufactures rated size as a proper guideline.

Oh really

Then I should be good because the DT is only a 75.

Thank you

Looks like I was thinking wrong

It says

60 heavy

90 medium

Light 130

So how do I figure out if this skimmer would work?
